Terms and Conditions aka “What to expect from whom”:
STUDENTS:
•Students will be expected to ask for instructor’s qualifications and references. This includes but is not limited to.
- Instructor numbers to verify via their certifying agency that they are authorized to teach;
- Personal dive insurance or shop insurance as required where you live and/or as required by the agency the instructor teaches for;
- Completed teaching credentials for any specialty courses beyond the basic “open water” course; etc
- How the instructor approaches teaching i.e. small classes, private classes, duration of classes, etc.
- All costs involved i.e. some classes include ‘everything’ in the price and others have a ‘low price’ with a long list of extra charges;
- Why an instructor feels they are successful teaching scuba especially if you as the student are not considered a ‘fish’ in the water, or have a learning disability or busy work schedule, or prefer ‘in classroom’ instruction to ‘online instruction’ etc.
- If the instructor offers online classes and how that works and how much they cost in comparison to the ‘in person’ instruction;
- List of previous students names and numbers you can call to speak with
•Students will learn the benefits of getting certified to dive via an independent scuba or dive instructor compared to getting certified via a shop instructor.
•Students will have access to information related to diving, instruction and all things “scuba”.
•Students agree to hold ISI (Independent Scuba Instructors) harmless for any and all reasons as we are merely a search tool to connect divers and instructors.
INSTRUCTORS:
IndependentScubaInstructors.com (ISI) offers a place to advertise your services to the public thru social media and other platforms to create the first ever independent scuba and dive instruction directory for the purpose of finding students to sign up with you and your dive program.
•You as the instructor will need to provide your own agreement or contract with each student as well as your terms and conditions regarding payments, scheduling, missed classes, refunds, etc
•Instructors agree to keep their ISI site profiles up to date and accurate as well as maintain any membership fees to keep their profile visible and searchable on the site should we offer a ‘subscription option’ or ‘premium services’ in the future.
•Instructors agree to uphold the standards of their certifying agency(s) and provide the best possible service to future students taking classes from them.
•Instructors agree to help ISI with constructive and helpful ways that ISI can better help them and our dive industry in general.
•Instructors agree to hold ISI harmless for any and all reasons as we are merely a search tool to connect divers and instructors.
ISI aka Independent Scuba Instructors:
•IndependentScubaInstructors.com aka ISI offers a single source for divers and non divers to find instructors and a convenient place for instructors to advertise their services to the public thru a simple to use directory to further promote the love of diving and our sport.
•ISI does not vet instructors nor students and each are required to due their own due diligence. We will attempt to provide educational materials from certifying agencies, online resources and information from and/or access to other professionals in the industry.
•ISI will provide a feedback mechanism so that you can share your experiences with the dive pros listed in our directory similar to trip advisor, amazon, etc
•ISI will work to further industry goals and objectives to help our sport survive and thrive and to help and benefit all those who love it!
Privacy & Operational Policies Who we are About Us
We are divers wanting to help other divers learn to dive and to fall in love with the ocean and scuba as much as we have. We discovered that no resource existed to help students find independent dive and scuba instructors, so we decided to create our own directory for independent scuba and dive instructors. We’d love for you to tell others about this resource and consider contributing support materials to it. Please email info@indspendentscubainstructors.com for more info or to submit ideas. Thank you!
Industry regulatory disclosure requirements
We do not endorse any instructor certifying agency nor do we denounce any instructor certifying agency. We do not endorse any instructors listed in our directory nor do we denounce any instructors listed in our directory.
